Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 10, 2008

According to a recent member survey at WorkItMom.com, the leading online community for working mothers, spending time at a spa, receiving a spa gift certificate and having some alone time are the top three gifts busy working moms would like to receive for Mother’s Day.

In response to the question of what gifts would you most like to receive for Mother’s Day, 22 percent of respondents chose “A half day at a spa,” 16 percent chose “Several quiet hours to spend by myself,” and 15 percent chose “A few extra hours of sleep.”

The other options included for this question were “Someone to do household chores for a day,” (15 percent), “A handmade card from my kids,” (14 percent), and “Fun date with my significant other” (10 percent).

When answering the question of what tangible gifts would you like to get for Mother’s Day, 30 percent of respondents chose “Gift certificate to a spa,” followed by 14 percent who chose “Jewelry,” and 13 percent who chose “Books or CDs.”

While working moms do want a bit of a break from their busy lives by going to a spa or having some alone time, many shared that some of their favorite Mother’s Day gifts have been cards made by their kids, breakfast in bed, a dinner prepared by their husband and kids, or just a fun outing with their family.

Fifty-eight percent of survey respondents said that it is very important to them that their significant other remember Mother’s Day and recognize them, with 35 percent saying “It would be nice.” Only 7 percent said that it’s not that important to them.

Nearly 70 percent of working moms said that they don’t expect Mother’s Day to be celebrated at the office and consider it a family holiday.

To many, learning the art of gourmet cooking might appear to be an impossible dream. But no matter what your present cooking skills are, this simply isn’t the reality. There are numerous gourmet cooking techniques that you can practice to enhance your everyday cookery skills.

One path to developing these skills is to sign on for a gourmet cooking class. The downside is that many of these courses can be quite costly, For more help visit to: http://www.cajuns-recipes.com.and you might not have the time in your schedule to make it to all the classes.

With gourmet cooking classes not an alternative for many, what are some other means of studying gourmet cooking techniques that you can integrate into day-to-day meal preparation?

Luckily, there are several things you’ll be able to do that can facilitate learning gourmet cooking skills that you can easily use every day.

First off, you must plan this in a practical way. Gourmet cooking does not necessarily imply costly, out of the ordinary, or uncommon ingredients. Gourmet cooking actually entails employing the freshest ingredients of the finest quality.

An easy way to go about gourmet cooking is to examine the basic spices you use. For instance, a gourmet chef would never cook with garlic powder, bottled garlic, or any other type of garlic that wasn’t freshly chopped. As well, a gourmet chef would never use dehydrated or bottled herbs. Only fresh herbs from the produce department of the supermarket would be considered.

Some ingredients in their freshest format will be more expensive than their processed counterparts. But you’ll soon recognize that the cost difference isn’t unreasonable, and it’s still a good deal less expensive than dining at a restaurant. When you get used to gourmet cooking, you’ll lose your desire to eat out. You will be capable of making scrumptious meals in your own kitchen. This way, you’ll have even more chances to hone your cooking skills.

The fastest and simplest way to add gourmet cooking into your everyday meal preparation is to enhance the quality of the ingredients that you’re using. Then you’ll want to learn how to cook the ingredients properly.

The easiest way to do this is to browse through cookbooks, where you’ll be able to study the basic principles and learn at your own rate. Your library will have numerous cookbooks that you can explore.

Your cookbook should deal with the basics, including what type of knife you should use for various tasks, how to prepare chicken stock, For more detail go to: http://www.breakfasts-recipes.com.and the process for clarifying butter. These are all fundamental cooking techniques that can often seem unattainable because they are considered to be gourmet.

Before long, you’ll realize that gourmet cooking is a skill that anyone can learn. All it takes is some time and effort.

Food and Wine Enthusiasts Heading to Lake Placid’s 7th Annual Adirondack Festival of Food and Wine Book Accommodations through New York Vacation Rentals

.

Lake Placid, NY (PRWEB) April 14, 2012

Serious foodies and casual connoisseurs alike will come together in Lake Placid April 19-22 for the 7th annual Adirondack Festival of Food and Wine, themed “The Culinary Melting Pot of Taste,” and offering an international flavor to the weekend’s events. Participants heading to Lake Placid for the event are booking privately owned vacation rental homes in Lake Placid through New York Vacation Rentals, to avoid the high cost of hotels and enjoying some extra amenities in the process.

The festival will provide visitors with cooking tips, demonstrations, seminars, guest chef competitions, and much more. Chefs will offer expertise from world-class institutions such as the New England Culinary Institute, Culinary Institute of America and the Research Chefs Association. A master sommelier, brew master, gardener, baker and chef will all be presenting at this year’s event.

“An event like this will encourage people to come and spend a long weekend or a week in this area of Lake Placid, where the outdoor recreation opportunities are family friendly and abundant, the local restaurants are fantastic, and the scenery is always beautiful,” Ernst said.

Comparison shopping for Lake Placid vacation rental properties can be done easily by logging on to NYvacationrentals.com and searching for a cabin, condo, house or cottage that suite each traveler’s needs. Whether staying for a night or two, or booking a Lake Placid vacation rental cabin for the week, visitors are finding a growing number of area home and condo owners making their private vacation properties available to families and groups of friends looking to rent close to the pentathlon venue.

These private vacation rentals in the Lake Placid area sleep anywhere from two to 20 people, so there is something for every vacationer who wants privacy and some of the luxuries of home, like a full kitchen and laundry.

Families traveling with children, or groups traveling together and sharing space find that a home setting with private bedrooms makes for a comfortable and enjoyable vacation.

Ernst says that more travelers are looking for lower-cost options to hotel rooms when they visit Lake Placid or any of New York State’s vacation areas. New York vacation rental properties are gaining momentum as travelers juggle rising gas prices and other expenses in tough economic times.

“People love coming to Lake Placid for a weekend getaway, or an extended vacation because of it’s scenic beauty and local charm,” Ernst says. Now that so many people have been renting private vacation properties for short visits in places all across New York State and other areas for years, it’s a trend that never loses its appeal.

“Travelers opt for the convenience and value they find in a privately owned vacation rental condo or house, and they’re not going back to booking hotel rooms.”

Visitors comparison shopping for the best value on a vacation rental home in the Adirondacks are finding that price, amenities, and location always seem to favor a vacation rental home over a hotel or bed and breakfast.

“Our job is to make sure that property owners and travelers can find each other, making it easy for travelers to book the right vacation rental home for their needs and budget,” Ernst said.
